COUNTRY GUIDE BALI

Private jet charter to Bali

Bali is 95 miles wide, and a vast portion of this has been assigned to showcasing its lush, paradisiacal palette. From its frothing waterfalls to its majestic forests, Bali is a cacophony of the most breath-taking colours and natural sights. Bali is fire and paradise in equal measures. Its central mountains include active volcanoes that are as brooding as they are awe-inspiring while the misty mountains around it cloak Hindu temples such as Pura Ulun in Danau Bratan in a gauze of cool condensation. The botanical gardens in Candikuning are one of only four in Bali, and with their stone idols, over 154 hectares of kempt lush lawns and plant-life and themed gardens (such as the Garden of Five Offerings), this one can easily be considered the most beautiful. The best vantage point of the hills and the waterfalls on the north coast can be enjoyed by heading to the hiking centre located in Munduk. This simple colonial village is made up largely of rice, fruit trees and a friendly population, with many opportunities for tourists to hike and trek along its length.

The island has a fair few places to stay when it comes to combining a sense of opulence with its stunning views, one of which is the Viceroy Bali located in Ubud. This well-appointed boutique hotel features 25 villas with private pools with balconies providing stunning views overlooking the valley throughout. There are even opportunities to rejuvenate body and mind after a long day of hiking or walking the trails by using the hotel’s spa facilities, which include a Hammam steam room and Jacuzzi. Mulia Villas situated on Nusa Dua also promise an excellent stay and are the largest of their kind on the island. From the unlimited access to the six pools across the resort to the delicious gourmet offerings you’ll enjoy across their four restaurants and five bars, this resort prides itself on supplying a truly exceptional guest experience. You can even take part in a canoe ride on Nusa Dua’s calm waters, along with a number of other watersports.

The island isn’t short on places to grab a bite to eat when you’re out and about either. Merah Putih located in Kerobokan Denpasar serves high quality Indonesian food inspired by the diversity and traditions of the island. Expect unpretentious yet delicately crafted dishes such as shaved baby squid served on egg noodles with crab, leek and chilli and large plates of Sumatran lamb shank curry with wing beans. Another great hotspot to try is the multi award-winning Sarong – one of the most popular restaurants in the Seminyak region. As a result of its popularity, it’s always advisable to book, but the dining there is well worth the advance consideration. Enjoy masterfully created dishes such as smoked tenderloin with wild mushroom, flat leaf lemongrass drizzled with mint and chilli dressing. More traditional dishes include tandoori chicken with homemade curry powder, ajwani seed, turmeric, coriander and hung yoghurt.
