The borough of Bogota is located within Bergen County, which is in the state of New Jersey on the east coast of the United States of America. The city takes its name in honour of the first people to occupy the area, the Bogert family.

The town is on the banks of the Hackensack River, with the Hudson River also nearby. Some of the attractions in the area include the Bogota Golf Center, Overpeck County Park and Hackensack River County Park.
