Private Jet Charter to Bangor International Airport
The Bangor International Airport started off as Godfrey Field in the 1920's on land owned by a local attorney, Edward Rawson Godfrey. On Aug. 19, 1923, 15 Martin Bombers and 11 DeHaviland Scout Planes under the command of Gen. Billy Mitchell — virtually the entire U.S. Army Air Corps — landed here on a practice mission. To this day the airport is a joint civil-military public airport, located 3 miles from from the city of Bangor in Penobscot County, Maine. It has been said that the airport owes its prosperity to its location on major air corridors between Europe and the East Coast of the United States.
