Last month leading aircraft charter specialist, Air Charter Service, went above and beyond in supporting their local homeless charity, The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network), by sending eight children on a summer camp trip of a lifetime.
Richard Thompson, President of ACS Americas, commented: “Last month all of the directors from our New York office went to help out in the soup kitchen and fed more than 500 visitors with breakfast and lunch. We have been regularly volunteering in the soup kitchen, five or six of us go once a month, but recently we got a call from The INN who were looking for help to get eight children – and their two chaperones – to a camp in Portland, Maine.
Cynthia Sucich, Chief Development & Programs Officer for The INN: “When the opportunity arose to give children living in The INN’s family shelter a chance to have a traditional sleepaway summer camp experience, we knew we had to make it happen, but there were a lot of logistical pieces that had to come together. We called in our village of supporters, including the team from Air Charter Service for help with transportation, an essential piece of the puzzle, they offered their help without hesitation, giving eight children and their families priceless memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.”
Richard continued: “We immediately said that we would be delighted to arrange and pay for the airline flights ourselves and managed to raise enough money from staff donations in just 24 hours. None of the children had been on an aircraft before and they were so excited. They all had a wonderful time, both on the plane and at the camp – an experience that simply would not have been possible without The INN.
“We are so proud to support The INN, who simply are one of the most wonderful organizations in our local community here in Long Island.”
