Fast-tracking a replacement part for a grounded aircraft
An airline urgently requested our help with getting an aircraft back in the air after becoming grounded in Texas. The plane’s windshield was damaged and a replacement needed to be flown in from another state, so we got straight to work to expedite delivery of the critical part and avoid costly delays to our client’s flight schedule.
Our Solution
Route: Miami > Ohio
Service: Trucking, air cargo
We reached out to our local network of industry contacts to see if we could transport the windshield on a passenger plane.
All upcoming flights to Houston were full, so we opted for the next flight out to Dallas, arranging for the 200-pound part to travel in the belly of a Boeing 737-800 before being trucked the rest of the way by road.
After the flight had departed, the client changed the end destination to Ohio instead of Texas. Without missing a beat, we set up an alternative ground transfer, which collected the cargo from the airport and delivered it to Ohio in good time.
