About the 2023 Cricket World Cup

Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the 2023 Cricket World Cup is being played exclusively in India for the first time. Beginning on 5 October with the current holders, England, taking on New Zealand, the tournament sees 10 teams play each other once in the group stage before the top four sides then advance to the semi-finals. The final takes place on 19 November at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This year’s competition is the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, but marks the first time India hosts it solo, having previously co-hosted it with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The Cricket World Cup was last held on Indian soil in 2011, when an Indian side led by MS Dhoni emerged victorious.

Private jets to the Cricket World Cup 2023

Group charter aircraft for the Cricket World Cup

Whether you’re flying to India for the Cricket World Cup as a spectator, or whether you’re organising travel on behalf of a team playing in the tournament, we have access to a range of aircraft suitable for group charters.

Most sports teams require an aircraft that can accommodate a large amount of equipment, which is why we often recommend aircraft like the Bombardier CRJ200, Dornier 328 or the Fairchild-Dornier 328JET. For teams desiring a more elevated experience, the Boeing B737-300 VIP has 68 business-class seats and plenty of space for equipment in the baggage hold.

If you’re a fan looking to book a group charter and price is your main priority, we can source aircraft with lower operational costs and therefore lower costs per seat, such as the Airbus A320 and A321 or the Boeing B737-800. If you’re searching for more luxury, the Airbus A340-300 VIP has 100 lie-flat beds and even boasts two sofas at the rear of the cabin, so passengers can hold a business meeting or relax and chat informally.

Due to India’s geographical location, most international guests travelling to watch their nation compete will need to charter a midsize or heavy jet in order to fly there non-stop.

Popular super-light jets such as the Embraer Phenom 300 are well-suited to short- and mid-range flights around Europe, but need to stop at least once to refuel on longer-range routes like London to Delhi.

Super-midsize jets like the Embraer Praetor 600 and the Bombardier Challenger 350 can fly long distances for their size, however we’d recommend a heavy jet like the Gulfstream IV or ultra-long-range Bombardier Global Express XRS if you’re travelling from further afield.

Popular private jets to charter in India

With 46 games in 10 locations, you’ll likely need to travel around India to watch your nation play. If you plan to do this by private jet, here are the most popular aircraft to charter:

Dassault Falcon 2000

The midsize Falcon 2000 (along with upgrades including the EX, DX, S, LX and LXS) offers class-leading fuel economy and an impressive range, connecting passengers with every major domestic route plus global cities like Tokyo or Dubai. Every aircraft in this popular series seats 10 passengers in a spacious cabin that’s flooded with natural light.

Embraer Legacy 600/650

These larger heavy jets connect India with much of Asia. With space for up to 13 passengers, the Legacy 600’s seats can be transformed into six beds and its cabin is split into three spacious zones, making it ideal for both daytime and evening flights. The upgraded Legacy 650 has a similar interior and 15% longer range.

Hawker 800

Like the Falcon 2000, there are several upgrades of the classic Hawker 800, including the 800XP, 800XPi (pictured) and 850XP. Seating up to eight people in luxury, few mid-range jets can match this line’s combination of comfort, cabin size and range. This all-around performance makes the Hawker 800 one of the most sought-after private jets to charter.

Cessna Citation XLS/XLS+

The Citation XLS and XLS+ are two of the world’s best-selling private jets. Both usually seat around eight passengers but can be configured for up to 12, with stand-up headroom and a full-length aisle. There’s usually a refreshment centre at the front of the cabin and a lavatory and closet space in the back, plus two foldaway tables in the middle for dining or working.

Gulfstream G200

The Gulfstream G200 is one of the fastest and longest-range super-midsize jets on the charter market. Its cabin is among the largest in its class and can be configured for eight to 11 passengers, while the external baggage compartment can hold up to 10 suitcases – ideal for those travelling around India with plenty of luggage.
